Work packages two and three
Conversion and storage of biomass
UCD, Dublin is working to develop materials and methods for the sustainable conversion of biomass to bioenergy, and ways is which this energy can be stored. It will contribute its knowledge and expertise in these areas to help EnAlgae achieve its long-term goal of a sustainable algal bioenergy market place in North West Europe. Prof. Thampi’s team will closely follow technological advancements in the chemical conversion of biomass to fuel so that practical and sustainable applications can be developed. The EnAlgae project will also benefit from UCD, Dublin’s studies on artificial photosynthesis, the production of H2 and hydrocarbon from water and CO2.
