What’s your main role in within the EnAlgae project?

I'm a Project Engineer in Bio-energy at LABORELEC and I have worked on Sustainable Process Technology product line. I bring the energy and industrial dimensions into the project. I am mainly involved in the WP3 – Decision Support Tool from industrial users’ side.
I also participate to the WP2 for the national regulation and algae actors surveys.
I was part of the drafting team at the very beginning of the project.

What were you doing before you joined the project?

I was and am still working for Laborelec. My training background is bio-engineer, specialised in environment – resources in soil and water. My daily job is working on bio… Biomass characterisation for energy, biotechnologies, bio-remediation… Sustainability and feasibility are key dimensions I always take into account when dealing with projects/services.

Why are you interesting in EnAlgae?

The very added value of the EnAlgae project is considering both micro and macroalgae and obtaining “real” data from pilots – with different cultivation technologies. This enables to fill the gap in field data from the Northern Europe region. This gives thus a more realistic picture of the potential of algae for energy and bioremediation. The project gathers furthermore high level scientists in that domain, and putting them all together results in passionate and very interesting discussions! Each meeting is an opportunity to exchange about the large diversity of algae species and related potential, what is tremendous!

What are you working on at the moment?

I have the opportunity to get more involved in the project this year, but it remains only a small part of my full-time activities. I try to participate as much as possible to all pilots meeting and et involved in the LCA and DST workshop. I’m learning a lot from the different pilots experiences and look for the adequacy of the DST development to meet the industrial (more specifically energy) requirements.
I also have a transversal look on the pilots and bring some information from other actors, external to the project.

Tell us something else about yourself!

Well… I love travelling and meeting people from all over the world. My favourite relaxing moments are: gardening, cooking, dancing or just contemplating Nature under all its very diverse and fascinating forms.
