INTERREG IVB North West Europe

INTERREG IVB NWE is a financial instrument of the European Union's Cohesion Policy. It funds projects which support transnational cooperation. Its aim is to find innovative ways to make the most of territorial assets and tackle shared problems of Member States, regions and other authorities.

EnAlgae has received 50 per cent of its funding through the INTERREG IVB NWE programme (€7.3m). The project is a Strategic Initiative (SI) of the programme and, as such, meets the following requirements:

  • Identified as having strategic importance for the North West Europe region
  • Offers a strategic top-down perspective combined with the traditional bottom-up involvement of key actors
  • Creates a cluster of strategically relevant actors and projects which will function in an environment of genuine transnational cooperation

Match funding

The remaining 50 per cent of the project has been sponsored by match funders. Individual partners have secured this funding in line with the budget they have received from the INTERREG IVB North West Europe funds.
